BECU
BECU
BECU, originally known as Boeing Employees’ Credit Union, is a member-owned financial cooperative headquartered in Tukwila, Washington. It provides checking and savings accounts, credit cards, vehicle loans, mortgages, personal loans, business banking, investment services, and other financial products.
BECU was founded in 1935 by 18 Boeing employees as Fellowship Credit Union. It later adopted the Boeing Employees’ Credit Union name and eventually began operating primarily under the BECU brand. Membership has expanded beyond Boeing employees, although applicants must still meet BECU’s current eligibility requirements.
BECU is a not-for-profit credit union rather than a traditional shareholder-owned bank. Deposits are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration within applicable limits. BECU serves members through online banking, its mobile application, telephone banking, video banking, ATMs, and financial centers.
