Frontier Communications Corporation (known as Citizens Utilities Company until May 2000 and Citizens Communications Company until July 31, 2008) is an American telecommunications company. The company previously served primarily rural areas and smaller communities, but now also serves several large metropolitan markets. Frontier Communications provides phone, data and internet, video, and satellite TV (through a partnership with DISH Network) services to urban and rural customers in about 30 US states. The company has about 4.1 million customers, 3.5 million broadband subscribers. Frontier is active mostly in rural and small to mid-sized markets, where it is the incumbent local exchange carrier.
