About AT&T Inc.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) — an abbreviation of its predecessor’s historic name, the American Telephone and Telegraph Company — is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, a Fortune 10 American multinational providing wireless communications, broadband internet, fiber, and business networking services to more than 100 million consumers and millions of business customers across the United States and globally. Founded in 1885 in Boston, Massachusetts as the American Telephone and Telegraph Company — itself a spinoff of Alexander Graham Bell’s original Bell Telephone Company established in 1877 — AT&T held a decades-long monopoly over American telecommunications that was forcibly broken up by a landmark 1982 federal antitrust settlement, divesting into the “Baby Bells.” Today’s AT&T Inc. was reconstituted through the 2005 merger of SBC Communications with the original AT&T Corp., and is led by Chair and CEO John Stankey, who has served in the role since July 2020. AT&T is currently headquartered at Whitacre Tower (One AT&T Plaza), 208 S. Akard Street in downtown Dallas, Texas.

In a major strategic announcement in January 2026, AT&T confirmed it will relocate its global headquarters from downtown Dallas to a newly constructed 54-acre campus in Plano, Texas — expected to consolidate more than 6,000 employees from the Akard Street site and other locations, with the move anticipated to begin in late 2028. AT&T delivered strong full-year 2025 financial results: over 1.5 million postpaid phone net additions for the fifth consecutive year, over 1 million fiber net additions for the eighth consecutive year, 875,000 AT&T Internet Air (Fixed Wireless Access) net additions doubling the base in a single year, full-year free cash flow of $16.6 billion, adjusted EPS growth of nearly 9% to $2.12, and more than $12 billion returned to shareholders through dividends and buybacks. AT&T plans to expand fiber service to 40 million customer locations by end of 2026.

AT&T Headquarters & Corporate Office Address

AT&T has been headquartered in Texas since 2005 — first in San Antonio (as SBC Communications), and then in Dallas following the SBC-AT&T merger that year. Since 2008, AT&T has been anchored in downtown Dallas at Whitacre Tower — formally known as One AT&T Plaza — a 40-story office tower at 208 S. Akard Street named in honor of AT&T’s former Chairman and CEO Edward Whitacre Jr., who engineered the transformational mergers that created the modern AT&T. Whitacre Tower is one of downtown Dallas’s most prominent office buildings and has served as the nerve center of one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies for nearly two decades. In January 2026, AT&T announced it will move to an all-new 54-acre corporate campus in Plano, Texas — consolidating 6,000+ employees from Dallas and surrounding locations when the move begins in late 2028, making Plano one of the largest corporate headquarters addresses in North Texas.

How to File a Complaint Against AT&T

Step 1 — Call Customer Service (24/7)
For the fastest resolution of most AT&T complaints — including billing errors, unauthorized charges, service outages, and equipment issues — call 1-800-331-0500 (wireless) or 1-800-288-2020 (internet, phone, and TV). Both lines are available 24/7. Have your account number, the specific charges or service dates in question, and a clear description of your complaint ready. Ask the representative to formally log your complaint and provide a case or ticket reference number.

Step 2 — Use Live Chat or the myAT&T App
For a written record of your complaint, use AT&T’s live chat at att.com/support or through the myAT&T app. Live chat creates a timestamped transcript of your interaction — valuable for billing disputes and later regulatory escalations. Live chat is available during extended hours on att.com.

Step 3 — Request Supervisor Escalation
If the first representative cannot resolve your complaint, ask immediately to be escalated to a supervisor or the Customer Resolution team. Supervisors have authority to approve exception credits, reverse unauthorized charges, issue service credits, and formally escalate unresolved issues. Always document the case reference number.

Step 4 — Submit a Notice of Dispute
For formally unresolved complaints, submit a Notice of Dispute through AT&T’s official dispute process at att.com/support/how-to/notice-of-dispute/. This is AT&T’s legally required pre-arbitration step under its Customer Agreement. An AT&T representative will contact you within 60 days to attempt resolution. This step is required before proceeding to formal arbitration.

Step 5 — Write to the Corporate Office
For formal written complaints, write to AT&T Inc., 208 S. Akard Street, Dallas, Texas 75202, Attn: Customer Relations. Include your full name, account number, all prior contacts and case reference numbers, copies of relevant bills or documentation, and the specific resolution you are requesting.

Step 6 — File a Complaint With the FCC
For unresolved complaints involving wireless service, internet billing, unauthorized charges (cramming), robocalls, or telemarketing violations, file a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission at fcc.gov/consumers/guides/filing-informal-complaint or call 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322). The FCC forwards all complaints to AT&T and requires a formal written response within 30 days.

Step 7 — File a Complaint With the FTC
For complaints involving deceptive advertising, misleading contract terms, or unauthorized billing, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).

Step 8 — File a Complaint With Your State PUC
For landline, home phone, and local wireline service complaints, file a formal complaint with your state’s Public Utilities Commission (PUC). State PUCs regulate landline telephone service quality and billing practices and can investigate complaints against AT&T’s wireline operations.

Step 9 — File a BBB Complaint
File a public complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org. AT&T holds an A+ rating with the BBB and a formal complaint filing typically prompts a corporate-level response within 14 days.

Step 10 — Proceed to Arbitration
If all prior steps fail to resolve your complaint, AT&T’s Customer Agreement requires binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association (AAA) — with the arbitration conducted in the county of your billing address. AT&T pays all arbitration fees for claims under $75,000. Small claims court remains an alternative for qualifying disputes
