On Sunday, September 25, 2922, I was at the Mariano’s location at 39th South Martin Luther King, Jr Drive. In the hot deli section, the small to go containers did not have a bar scan code. None of the small containers had bar code task. I contacted the Deli Manager & asked why. Her Response was ” We hire from the Community. Sometimes the Community doesn’t want to work.” In my opinio, this response was inappropriate for a Manager on so many levels. I live and work in the Community. This response was “racist”. It’s the responsibility of Managers to educate and train staff. Poor response from a poor organization.

Hi my name is Dora Masterson I was in your store earlier today to buy a birthday cake I went to the bakery department and I picked out a cake and I needed to have it written on I asked the guy in the back if he can write on it he said he doesn’t do it so he calls the manager which I asked him to took a while for the manager to come the managers name is Joel not a very nice man he said he had 15 people call off I understand it but as a manager you need to step up and see what you could do I really wanted that cake so I figured I’ll write it myself and I go to Mariano’s because you really do have awesome cakes but dealing with Joel I was never coming back but then you have an angel that works for you and his name is Geo now that is the way a manager should be he wrote on my cake for me did an awesome job mind you he’s not a cake decorator but he did an incredible job and I just wanted you to know he is an angel because of Geo Mariano will be my store and I live right across the street but I was going to Jewel on Ashland and I’ve been going there many years not anymore because of Geo. Mariano will be our store so I can imagine how many customers Joel has lost because I wasn’t coming back and I just want to say thank you. For having a incredible man working for you. We need more Geo in this world

Mariano’s at 333 Benton Pl, Chicago Illinois 60601 and this was my experience today…
OMG!!! The people in that store are so incompetent!! I placed an order on their app to pick up!! I told the girl there (idk her name) I told her I clipped the coupon for $15 off and she said she couldn’t do anything to honor the coupon. I showed a picture of it and she was so aloof and just stood there watching me, expecting that I would just forget about it! I asked for a manager and she said she was a manager. I was very surprised at her lack of customer service skills. She wouldn’t do anything and so I asked for a higher manager. Jajuan assistant manager comes in and again I faced someone in management who either didn’t know how to credit me or just plainly wouldn’t do it! At Jajuan said he couldn’t take the $15 out of the order but that he could give me a store credit. He was mumbling stuff to the girl and pushes her slightly so that I won’t hear them!!
He then said, you should come back tomorrow and the main manager Joe will take care of you! I said no wait! You just said I could get a store credit and now you’re backing down. He said it’s best if I comeback tomorrow and speak to the main manager Joe!! I was livid and I told him “I don’t know what kind of manager you are but you don’t inconvenience the customer “. I told him I have over 20 years in customer service and we value and consider a customer’s time and inconvenience. This is very poor customer service, very poor! Especially, when it’s forecasted to rain all day tomorrow for me to go walking back to the store. You should’ve have to ask a customer to come for something you should be well trained as a manager to do! I work at a call center for many many years and we have this important rule where we do absolutely everything we can to help a customer in a one call resolution!
Ok, so I arrive home and went through the groceries and I’m missing two items!!😡😠
I’m mad as hell!! So guess what? I called the store to let them know right away that I’m missing two items. A man answered and I asked to speak to a manager. He said he was a manager. 😓😣. Here we go again, I told him what happened in the store and that now I’m missing two items. He clearly had no interest or intention to help me from the beginning! You know what he said?
He said to call tomorrow and speak to Joe the main manager!
Wow!! These are all incompetent managers, all three of them!!
I called back to find out girls name and Hector answered again put me on hold and said he wouldn’t be able to give to me!
He then again said just come and see Joe.
Wow!! 😡🤬
Make recommendation is not to go to that Mariano’s and/or don’t order to pick up through the app!
I give them a big fat ZERO for their incompetence and lack of customer service skills.
