About NBC
NBC, formally the National Broadcasting Company, is one of the oldest and most influential television networks in the United States. The network was founded in 1926 and has played a central role in the development of American radio and television broadcasting. Its famous peacock logo has become one of the most recognizable symbols in global media.
NBC provides national entertainment, news, sports, late-night, daytime, reality, drama, comedy, and live-event programming. Major NBC properties have included TODAY, NBC Nightly News, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, Sunday Night Football, and numerous scripted and unscripted television programs. NBC programming is distributed through a nationwide network of affiliated television stations as well as NBC-owned stations.
NBC operates as a core brand of NBCUniversal. As of September 2026, NBCUniversal remains part of Comcast Corporation, although Comcast announced in June 2026 that it intends to separate NBCUniversal and Sky into an independent publicly traded company. The transaction is expected around mid-2027 and has not yet been completed. NBC’s historic and current New York operating headquarters remains 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, New York 10112.
