Kum & Go
Kum & Go was a well-known Midwestern convenience-store and fuel chain founded in 1959 by W.A. Krause and T.S. Gentle in Hampton, Iowa. The business expanded from a single full-service gas station into a substantial regional convenience retailer selling fuel, beverages, prepared foods, snacks, coffee, grocery essentials, and other travel-related products. For decades, Kum & Go was closely associated with Iowa and the Krause family.
The most important current corporate change is that Kum & Go is no longer an independent Krause Group company. Maverik, backed by FJ Management, acquired Kum & Go in 2023, combining two major convenience-store systems. Maverik then began converting Kum & Go stores to the Maverik brand, initially in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming and later across additional Midwestern markets. Current Maverik information describes more than 800 stores across 20 states and over 16,000 team members.
By 2026, the Kum & Go name had largely been replaced by Maverik as the combined business moved toward a unified brand. Current Maverik’s rebrand page still references remaining Kum & Go loyalty accounts and locations during the transition, but customers should understand that Maverik is now the active parent and operating organization. The former Des Moines Kum & Go headquarters should therefore be treated as a legacy brand office rather than the principal headquarters of the current combined retail organization.

Legacy/rebrand information
Not applicable in the conventional public-company sense.Maverik and FJ Management are privately held.
Kum & Go historically operated as a fuel retailer, and current converted Maverik locations continue to sell gasoline across the combined network. Fuel grades and pricing vary by market and store.
Many larger convenience locations offer diesel for passenger vehicles and commercial drivers. Availability varies according to store design and market.
Stores sell beverages, packaged food, candy, snacks, grocery basics, automotive items, personal-care products, and everyday travel necessities.
Kum & Go developed a substantial convenience-food operation, but converted locations increasingly use Maverik’s food program. Maverik is known for fresh-made burritos, sandwiches, pizza, baked goods, and other prepared food.
Converted Maverik stores use the BonFire foodservice concept, featuring fresh-prepared burritos, sandwiches, pizza, and related grab-and-go products.
This replaced much of the legacy Kum & Go prepared-food format during rebranding.
Both Kum & Go and Maverik have long offered brewed coffee and specialty hot beverages as core convenience-store products.
Current Maverik locations promote coffee blends alongside breakfast and fresh-food items.
Stores offer fountain beverages in a range of sizes and brands, often supported by loyalty promotions.
Cold cases include bottled water, soft drinks, juices, energy drinks, sports beverages, tea, and other drinks.
Stores stock national and private-label snacks, chips, candy, cookies, protein snacks, and other convenience products.
Qualifying stores sell beer and other alcoholic products subject to state and local law.Age verification and product selection vary by jurisdiction.
Selected stores sell tobacco and other legally permitted age-restricted merchandise.Customers must meet applicable age and identification requirements.
Converted stores use Maverik’s Adventure Club rewards program.Members can earn Trail Points, receive fuel discounts, access Punch-It digital rewards, and receive member-only deals.
Kum & Go’s &Rewards program remains relevant only during the brand-transition process.Current rebrand information states that legacy points and cash do not automatically transfer in the same form to Maverik, so customers should review the migration instructions for their account.
Maverik’s Nitro program provides enhanced fuel and loyalty benefits for eligible customers.Customer Service for Nitro uses 1-800-789-4455.
Customers can manage current Maverik rewards, offers, loyalty information, and account activity through the Maverik app.Legacy Kum & Go users may need to complete their transition into the Maverik system.

Because Kum & Go has been absorbed into Maverik and its stores are being rebranded, the best current route is to contact Maverik Customer Service at 1-800-789-4455. The Customer Service Center operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Before calling, have the store location, receipt, transaction date, fuel-pump number if applicable, and loyalty-account phone number available.
If the issue involves old Kum & Go &Rewards points or a store that recently became Maverik, explain that the complaint relates to the Kum & Go transition. Current rebrand information confirms that legacy loyalty balances do not all transfer automatically, while customer phone numbers can work across both systems. Store-level food, cleanliness, employee, or fuel concerns can also be raised with the manager at the location involved.

Salt Lake City, UT 84111.
Maverik also retains corporate operations in Des Moines, Iowa, reflecting the integration of the former Kum & Go business. Current careers information specifically identifies corporate offices in both Salt Lake City and Des Moines.
The former Kum & Go headquarters was
1459 Grand Avenue
Des Moines, IA 50309
This address was associated with Kum & Go, L.C. and the Krause Gateway Center before Maverik’s acquisition and rebranding. It should now be treated as a legacy Kum & Go headquarters address, not the principal headquarters of the combined current company.
Complaints may involve fuel charges, food quality, store conditions, employee behavior, legacy &Rewards balances, Nitro or Adventure Club accounts, payment issues, or the transition of a former Kum & Go location into Maverik. Keep the receipt, store number or address, transaction time, pump number, loyalty-account details, photographs, and previous communication ready.
Call 1-800-789-4455 and explain that the concern relates to either a current Maverik store or a former Kum & Go location. Provide the location, transaction date, receipt information, and a concise description of what happened. Request a case or reference number where available.
If the issue concerns Nitro, loyalty, an online food order, or rebranding, ask Customer Service to route the case to the correct team. For an online order, the current ordering site specifically instructs customers to use 1-800-789-4455.
If the first representative cannot resolve the problem, ask for a Customer Service supervisor or store-management review. For a store-specific complaint, document the Store Director or manager’s name and explain what resolution was previously offered.
For a complaint requiring documentation, use Maverik’s official digital contact channels and retain screenshots, transaction records, rewards balances, and previous correspondence. Written evidence is particularly useful in disputes involving old Kum & Go rewards or a rebranded location.
Serious unresolved correspondence can be sent to Maverik, Inc., 185 South State Street, Suite 800, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Include all supporting documentation and a clear description of the requested resolution.
Nitro account disputes can follow the procedures in the Nitro Card Agreement. Maverik states that many purchase, fuel, merchandise, or service disputes should first be presented to Customer Service at 1-800-789-4455 before formal dispute procedures are pursued.
Fuel-quality, pump-measurement, or fuel-pricing complaints can be reported to the state’s agriculture, weights-and-measures, or petroleum regulator. Food-safety concerns may involve local or state health authorities, while financial or card-account issues can fall under other appropriate regulators depending on the service.
Customers disputing a payment may contact their card issuer or financial institution where appropriate. General consumer complaints can also be submitted to a state Attorney General or consumer-protection agency after the customer has documented attempts to resolve the problem with Maverik.
For significant unresolved Nitro or contractual disputes, review the current applicable Maverik agreement before taking legal action. Maverik’s Nitro agreement provides an arbitration process that begins with a written Notice of Dispute to the Legal Department. Customers considering formal proceedings may also wish to obtain independent legal advice.
