BayCare Health
BayCare is a not-for-profit, community-based academic health system serving West Central Florida. The organization was formed in 1997 when a group of local hospitals came together to preserve community-based nonprofit healthcare while creating a more integrated regional system. Today, BayCare provides hospital care, physician services, urgent care, behavioral health, pediatric care, home health, laboratory services, imaging, surgery, rehabilitation, health insurance, and other clinical services across hundreds of locations.
BayCare currently operates 16 hospitals and more than 400 access points across West Central Florida. It is one of the region’s largest healthcare employers, with more than 34,000 team members, and it reports an annual economic impact of approximately $13 billion on Florida. BayCare is also the region’s largest provider of cardiac, behavioral-health, and pediatric services, while BayCare Medical Group is one of the area’s largest multi-specialty physician groups.
BayCare remains a not-for-profit health system rather than a publicly traded corporation. Stephanie Conners serves as President and CEO. The system continues to expand its hospitals, ambulatory network, HealthHub locations, insurance operations, home care, medical education, and community-health initiatives, including development of its 17th hospital, BayCare Hospital Manatee, which is expected to open in 2028.

No outdated headquarters correction is necessary for the current page. BayCare continues to use the Clearwater system-office address at 2985 Drew Street.
BayCare complaints may involve patient care, staff conduct, hospital conditions, billing, insurance, medical records, privacy, accessibility, behavioral-health services, or another healthcare experience. Patients should gather their medical-record number where available, facility name, date of service, provider names, bills, insurance documents, photographs when relevant, and records of earlier communications before escalating.
Start with 1-800-229-2273 for general assistance or contact the hospital, clinic, or medical practice involved directly. Clearly describe the concern, identify the date and location of care, and request that the issue be documented. If the patient is still receiving care, raising the concern promptly with the local care team may allow the problem to be resolved before discharge.
Use the department responsible for the issue. Hospital patient-experience complaints can use 813-586-9000, Behavioral Health inpatient concerns can use 727-754-9284, and BayCare Medical Group patient feedback can use 727-532-1379 or bmg_patient.feedback@baycare.org.
If the first response is not satisfactory, ask for the department manager, nurse leader, practice manager, patient-relations representative, or hospital administrator. Provide a concise chronology of what happened and explain the specific resolution you are seeking. Keep a written record of names, dates, case numbers, and promised follow-up.
Submit a Customer Feedback Form or other applicable written BayCare complaint form. Written complaints are useful when the concern involves multiple visits, billing documents, accessibility issues, clinical communication, or supporting records. Keep a copy of the submission and any confirmation received.
For serious unresolved system-level concerns, write to

Include the patient’s name, facility, dates of service, earlier case numbers, supporting documentation, and the requested resolution.
Billing, health-plan, medical-record, privacy, behavioral-health, and physician-group concerns should be routed through the relevant specialist team. BayCarePlus members can use 866-509-5396, while incorrectly billed patients can use 813-443-8070 for surprise-billing concerns.
If the matter concerns hospital licensing, quality of care, or facility compliance in Florida, the appropriate regulator may include the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. Professional-conduct concerns may also be directed to the relevant Florida licensing board, depending on whether the complaint involves a physician, nurse, or another licensed provider.
Billing disputes may also involve the patient’s insurer, Medicare, CMS, or applicable consumer-protection authority. Privacy concerns can be submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights when HIPAA or protected-health-information issues are involved.
For serious unresolved disputes involving alleged injury, substantial billing losses, discrimination, privacy violations, or contractual rights, patients may wish to review available mediation, grievance, administrative, or legal remedies. A qualified healthcare or consumer attorney can help determine the correct route, particularly where statutory filing deadlines may apply.
