IHOP Restaurant
IHOP, originally known as International House of Pancakes, is one of the largest family-dining restaurant brands in the world. The first restaurant opened on July 7, 1958, in Toluca Lake, California, and was founded by brothers Al and Jerry Lapin with early investors Al and Trudy Kallis. The concept initially centered on pancakes and breakfast, but over time expanded into a full-day restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, beverages, family meals, and takeout. The abbreviated IHOP name was introduced through marketing in 1973 and eventually became the identity most consumers recognize today.
IHOP currently operates through International House of Pancakes, LLC, a subsidiary of publicly traded Dine Brands Global, Inc. Dine Brands also owns Applebee’s and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. As of December 28, 2025, there were 1,824 IHOP restaurants, including 1,658 under franchise agreements, 154 under area-license arrangements, and 12 company-owned restaurants. The system operated across 48 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., two U.S. territories, and 17 countries outside the United States. The overwhelming majority of IHOP restaurants are therefore independently operated by franchisees rather than directly managed by the corporate parent.
IHOP’s current Restaurant Support Center is in Pasadena, California, not at some of the older Glendale addresses that may still appear in legacy listings. Dine Brands Global uses the same Pasadena corporate location. The parent company’s common stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker DIN, while IHOP itself is not separately publicly traded. IHOP continues expanding through conventional franchising, international development, off-premise ordering, catering, loyalty programs, and newer dual-branded Applebee’s and IHOP restaurants.

IHOP serves dinner-oriented entrées in addition to breakfast. Depending on the location, these can include chicken, steak, fish, comfort-food dishes, and other plated meals.
Platters combine proteins and sides into larger lunch or dinner meals. They are designed for customers who want a traditional restaurant entrée rather than a breakfast item or sandwich.
IHOP maintains a menu for children age 12 and under at participating locations. Kids selections generally include smaller versions of breakfast favorites along with other child-friendly lunch and dinner choices.

The International Bank of Pancakes is IHOP’s loyalty program. It allows qualifying members to earn rewards and receive promotional benefits connected with eligible purchases. IHOP launched the program in 2022.
IHOP sells physical and digital gift cards for qualifying purchases at participating restaurants. Gift cards can be purchased for personal use, gifts, employee recognition, and other occasions.
IHOP continues to expand primarily through franchising. Independent franchisees are responsible for the overwhelming majority of restaurant operations, employees, and local management.
IHOP licenses and franchises restaurants in multiple international markets. As of the end of 2025, the system included restaurants in 17 countries outside the United States.
Dine Brands is developing restaurants that combine Applebee’s and IHOP within one facility. The format allows two restaurant brands to share certain infrastructure while providing separate menus and dining experiences.

This is a corporate contact line, not a universal restaurant-employment hotline. Franchise employees should generally contact the franchise owner or home office.
IHOP does not operate one nationwide reservation phone number.Guests should contact the chosen restaurant directly to ask whether reservations, waitlist services, or group arrangements are available.
For an ordinary restaurant complaint, missing item, refund question, food-quality concern, employee issue, or service problem, the fastest route is normally the restaurant that handled the order. Because most IHOP locations are independently operated franchises, the local manager can review the transaction, employee shift, receipt, online order, and any restaurant-specific refund authority more quickly than the corporate office. Keep the restaurant address, date and time, receipt or order number, payment method, and photographs where relevant.
If the restaurant cannot resolve the issue, call IHOP Guest Relations at 866-444-5144. Current support hours are Monday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time and Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time. Explain the restaurant location, names of managers already contacted, transaction details, and the exact resolution requested. Customers can also submit a written message through IHOP’s Contact Us process.
For corporate matters rather than a restaurant-level concern, the IHOP Restaurant Support Center is at 10 West Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91103, while Dine Brands’ corporate telephone number is 818-240-6055. Restaurant employment matters should usually go to the franchise employer, while shareholder matters belong to Dine Brands rather than IHOP Guest Relations.
Complaints may involve food quality, incorrect orders, cleanliness, billing, delivery, promotions, accessibility, employee conduct, loyalty rewards, franchised restaurant operations, or another guest experience. Before escalating, keep your receipt or order number, restaurant address, purchase date and time, photographs where relevant, payment records, names of employees or managers contacted, and copies of prior correspondence.
Start with the IHOP restaurant that handled the purchase and ask to speak with the manager on duty. Give the manager the order number, receipt, date, and a concise description of the problem. If the complaint involves missing food, an incorrect charge, poor food quality, cleanliness, or staff conduct, explain what resolution you believe is appropriate and allow the restaurant to review the transaction.
If the problem involves an online order, delivery, gift card, loyalty account, catering order, accessibility concern, or another specialized issue, use the channel most closely connected to that service. For delivery orders placed through a third-party platform, the delivery company may need to resolve some payment or driver issues, while the restaurant remains responsible for food preparation.
If the manager on duty cannot resolve the concern, ask for the General Manager or franchise ownership group to review it. Most IHOP restaurants are independently operated, which means the franchise organization can have authority over restaurant employees, local refunds, training, operational practices, and follow-up actions. Keep notes of the names, dates, and promises made.
Submit the complaint through IHOP’s official Contact Us process so there is a written corporate record. Include the restaurant address, order number, transaction date, prior management contacts, relevant photographs, and the specific resolution you are requesting. Avoid sending unnecessary payment-card or sensitive personal information through an ordinary web message.
If previous attempts fail, escalate the matter to the IHOP Restaurant Support Center, 10 West Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91103. You can also call Guest Relations at 866-444-5144. Clearly summarize the earlier steps already taken so corporate support can understand that the matter has moved beyond an initial store complaint.
For shareholder or corporate-governance issues, contact Dine Brands rather than IHOP Guest Relations. Media matters should use media@ihop.com, while employment issues involving a franchise employee generally need to be addressed to that franchisee’s employer. Where a written contract, catering agreement, franchise matter, or other specialized dispute exists, follow the contact and dispute terms stated in that agreement.
Food-safety and sanitation complaints can be reported to the city, county, or state health department responsible for the restaurant. Wage, workplace, licensing, accessibility, or other regulatory complaints should be directed to the government agency with jurisdiction over that issue rather than assuming a single regulator handles every type of IHOP complaint.
For an unresolved unauthorized or incorrect payment-card charge, contact the bank or card issuer and follow its dispute process. General consumer complaints can also be submitted to the applicable state Attorney General or consumer-protection office. Maintain copies of receipts, photographs, messages, manager responses, and Guest Relations case information to support the complaint.
If a significant dispute remains unresolved after ordinary complaint channels, review the contractual terms connected with the transaction, online service, gift card, catering order, or other relationship. Depending on the circumstances and governing terms, a dispute may proceed through small-claims court, arbitration, mediation, or conventional legal proceedings. For a significant claim, consider obtaining independent legal advice before filing.
